General Information

What are the school hours?

08:45am – Students arrive and get to class

08:50am- 09:50am – Session 1: Numeracy Session (1 hour)

09:50am - 10:00am – Brain Break (10 minutes)

10:00am - 11:00am – Session 2: Literacy Session (1 hour)

11:00am - 11:30am – Morning Tea Break (Play first, then sit down for lunch eating in the last 10 minutes)

11:30am - 12:10pm – Session 3: Literacy Session

12:10pm - 12:20pm – Break (10 minutes)

12:20pm - 1:00pm – Session 4

1:00pm - 1:45pm – Lunch Break (Play first, then sit down for lunch eating in the last 15 minutes)

1:45pm - 3:00pm – Session 5

3:00pm – End of the school day

How do I report my child's absence?
If your child is going to be away for the day due to sickness, an appointment, or any other reason, please notify the school as soon as possible by using the Hero app.

There is a ‘Report an Absence’ icon right on the homepage of the app.

Click on the ‘Report an Absence’ icon.

Select the reason for absence (add in any message if you need to).

Click ‘Send Message’ and you’re done!

Enrolment & Uniform

How do I enrol my child?
Riverina School welcomes both in-zone and out-of-zone students. To initiate the enrollment process, please email admin@riverina.school.nz. More information is available on the school's website.

Can I Apply to Come to Riverina School If We Do Not Live In-Zone?
Yes, students who live outside the school zone can still attend Riverina School. If you are interested, please contact the school office for more information.

What age does my child need to start school?
In New Zealand, children can start school at age five. Riverina School accepts new students throughout the year. For detailed information, please contact the school office.

What documents are needed for enrollment?
To make the enrollment process as smooth as possible, please ensure the following documents are emailed to admin@riverina.school.nz after you complete your online application for enrollment. To apply, click on the following link: Enroll Your Child Here.
A copy of the eligibility document for your child. This can be either:

• NZ birth certificate or NZ passport (if NZ citizen)
• Australian passport (if Australian citizen)
• NZ residency permit or NZ student visa/permit and parental work permit (if the child is not a NZ citizen)
• Immunisation records
• A copy of any Court Order Documents (if applicable)

Where Can I Buy the School Uniform?
Uniforms can be ordered and paid for through Kindo or purchased onsite at the school. Uniforms are compulsory for all new enrollments and new entrant students. They must be purchased before their first day of school.

Where Can I Get Stationery?
Each class has a specific stationery kit, which can be purchased from the school office.

 

Learning & Activities

What subjects are taught?
Students at Riverina School participate in daily lessons, including one hour of Maths, Reading, and Writing. In addition, they engage in Inquiry, Physical Education, Art, and Te Reo Māori. The school also dedicates a full day to STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning.

Are There Sports or Extracurricular Activities?
At Riverina School, we offer a Sports Academy every Wednesday from 3:15 to 4:15 PM after school. Additionally, students can participate in lunchtime activities such as Rugby and Soccer.

How Does the School Communicate with Parents?
At Riverina School, all important communication is shared through Hero. Please ensure you have the Hero app downloaded to stay up to date with school events, notices, and important updates.
